Israeli lidar maker Innoviz wins $4 billion Volkswagen contract for millions of sensors
Israeli lidar maker Innoviz announced Tuesday it has won a contract to supply lidar units and related software for autonomous driving to a unit of Volkswagen, in a deal worth $4 billion in sales over eight years.
Under the deal, Volkswagen will incorporate Innoviz’s latest automotive lidar unit and its proprietary perception software into vehicles across its portfolio.
The deal will run for eight years starting “mid-decade,” when the first Innoviz-equipped Volkswagen Group vehicles are expected to ship. Innoviz expects to supply lidar units for between 5 million and 8 million Volkswagen Group vehicles over that eight-year term.
Innoviz’s shares surged on the news, closing up over 18% on Tuesday.
Volvo Group makes strategic investment in Optibus to advance bus electrification & industry digitalization
The Volvo Group is investing in the Israeli unicorn Optibus, which has developed a platform for planning and operating public transportation. The value of the investment has not been disclosed, however, it is estimated at several million dollars.
The investment was made by the investment arm of Volvo, one of the largest manufacturers of buses in the world.
Volvo is joining Optibus as part of the company’s Series D, in which it raised $100 million at a valuation of $1.3 billion. The Swedish company has joined Optibus in order to accelerate the deployment of its electric buses around the world.

Quantum & Hyundai Cradle team building day
This month, alongside our daily work on mutual projects, we took a short break and enjoyed a team day in Jerusalem together with our partners from Hyundai Cradle.
We started the day with a historical tour at the westren wall archaeological underground tunnels,
continued to an exceptional food tour at the Mahane Yehuda market where we tasted the local specialties and finished a session in a local refinery.
We discover that both teams has a lot in common and more important, how great everyone looked in their Quantum branded hats.
The Livnat family has sold 49% of MedOne to US private equity firm Berkshire Partners
MedOne is one of the pioneers of the server farm industry in Israel. Its best known installation is the underground server farm at Tirat Carmel, which manages and stores sensitive information of government ministries, banks, ISPs, and insurance companies. The company has additional longstanding server farms in Petah Tikva and Tel Aviv.
The Livnat family is exploiting the momentum in server farm construction in Israel and at the same time gaining greater liquidity at the height of an economic crisis. The family has agreed to sell 49% of its holdings in veteran Israel server farm operator MedOne, to US private equity firm Berkshire Partners.

The Situation
Security is a broad category. The most prevalent, exhausting, and expensive challenge is preventing the ongoing waves of cyberattacks on both specific client servers and entire centers. But as the sophistication of these attacks improves, so do the caliber of tools and services to battle them. As such, many hackers and well-funded, state-sponsored spies will resort to the physical world, with breaches perpetrated by an intruder or even a company employee who is being compensated well enough to compromise his employer’s security.
What we did
The system operates autonomously, according to the tasks defined by MedOne. The drones patrol the premises at set times, collect information and reports to the safety and security manager if an unusual activity is detected.
Results
The drone identify all the relevant risks that were defined by Medone: identification of a person while the space is supposed to be empty, leakage, temperature change, door left open and more
Indoor Robotics
Indoor Robotics is the developer of Tando, an AI-powered patrol drone for use in indoor spaces. Tando autonomously monitors its surroundings while providing 360-degree surveillance camera functionality.
Utilizing both optical and thermal imaging cameras, The data is processed in real time utilizing AI-based algorithms on a cloud-based server. If anomalies such as intruders, fires, or unfamiliar objects are detected, the administrator of the system is notified via the app.
